Credit Searches

Where your Consumer or Business Banking loan has transferred to KBC Bank NV Dublin Branch (“KBC Dublin Branch”), we may undertake searches with the Central Credit Register during the period of your credit facility originally provided by KBCI (now Exicon) to establish your credit record.

These searches will be conducted at the time of any extension or variation of an existing credit arrangement (e.g. request for a mortgage arrears resolution option).

Searches may also be conducted in the event of any breach of any credit agreement with KBC Dublin Branch. Under the Credit Reporting Act 2013, KBC Dublin Branch is obliged to provide personal and credit information relating to credit applications and credit agreements to the Central Credit Register, where the amount of credit applied for is €500 or more. The Central Credit Register may retain a record of such searches for a period of at least five years and this five year period generally runs from the date of final repayment of the loan in question.

KBC Dublin Branch may use and retain any information received as a result of a credit search to:
(i) make credit decisions in relation to you,
(ii) review the operation, management and performance of a credit facility provided by KBC Bank Ireland (now Exicon),
(iii) help detect or prevent fraud and recover its property and/or
(iv) for statistical purposes.

Further information on how we process your personal information is available in our KBC Dublin Branch Data Protection Notice.
